"I am awakened"

Our vision is to cultivate the capacity in youth, adults and seniors of African descent, to skillfully diversify, lead and innovate in the 21st Century community, classroom and workplace. We are the only organization in the nation working within an African centered framework to utilize critical media literacy and technology education as a leadership development tool.

Join us, spread the good news and take the lead in closing the digital divide.

>>RISE ABOVE THE NOISE
Sunday, April 25th @ Vegan Village Cafe, community members participated in Rise Above the Noise: Your Health & Global Warming and engaged in an authentic conversation about the eating habits, media influence and disease impacting the Black community. After a session of reflection, we screened portions of the film, Eating (a documentary that makes a direct link between cancer and an animal-based diet), and shared our learning on how to counter food-related media influence on our youth over a scrumptious vegan meal.

Two of my favorite quotes from post-evaluations completed at Rise Above the Noise are, "I am awakened" and "A must have intervention lesson." To all of the participants: I'm honored to have learned from you as we journey together on a path toward health in the Black community, regardless of media messages. Knowledge, change, action begins today-start somewhere... Ashe

Stay tuned for the date and location of the next Rise Above the Noise: Black Inferiority and the Normalization of Failure.
