The Community Bridge Initiative is designed to bridge resources from higher ed schools, media institutions and local professionals, organizations and change agents from the community, to address social issues, counter the exclusion of cultural education in schools and reeducate the community to embrace its brilliance.
The 3 ways we accomplish these goals are via our Monthly Lecture Series, Monthly Family Film Night and ongoing Library Development below...
Founded in 2008, Message Media Ed provides culturally relevant, media/technology education and professional development for youth, adults and seniors of African descent (including high school dropouts and youth at risk of giving up on their education), as a means of closing digital, cultural, social, academic and economic divides within the Black community.
Offered to the community through Message Media Ed and facilitated by Shani, The Digital Elder Project, Rise Above the Noise, Diversity Leaders and other tailored workshops, provide an African-centered approach to skill building in new media, media analysis, technology education and leadership development.
